also what r the now juniors going to think. i mean a new highscholl w/ a new name. i mean the class rings they got r no good anymore it is just a sign of the past and also the leterman jackets. and school names it wont be called that. and all the state titles that were won r just a thing of the past.

Well of course Kelly is gonna get the first shot at this and that. You think they would close a school as you pointed out right in the heart of the county seat and a rock's throw from the AD buildings.
Heck Kelly can't even keep a football coach. So that is to encourage Pound students. Last year with the second best coach they have had in years, even with a down season. Most were calling for his head. Even was accused of assault and battery.
But you think the SB or AD are gonna touch the county seat, as far as moving? Now come on. You talking politics now. That won't happen. Which is one reason many are asking, why no mention of 3 new schools. And why did Kelly and others get this advanced stuff first. Umm duh it was already in the works, i kind of posted about Wise County and corruption the other day to be told i was basically wrong. Well how wrong was i? Seems a lot has come together to show, maybe this ole Dawg wasn't far off the mark. Even those on the SB say the vote will got out 5-3. So they even know something. Mrs. Gregory and Mr. Fletcher stated that themselves. So who's lying? This has been in the works for a long time, problem is. To many kept the blinders on.
Like i said do it right. I'll vote for it. But do it wrong. No way Josa

Some things you just can't put a price on. I want to know if any board members stand to gain anything from this recommendation? What are their professions and interest outside of being board members?

Sorry bro. i ain't making fun of you. But i pointed it out yesterday to be told i was closed minded and had my mind made up, when i was ready to see this go forward, with 3 new schools. Then what happens, after i was told i was making acqusations, it unfolds right before most folks eyes.
Even board members saying it's a done deal?
Somebody else catching on huh. Hahaha. Man i hate to laugh. But a few are actually catching on, now that it is probably a done deal.

Amen!!! We do not need "bandaids" on these old buildings. Regardless of how much money is pumped into them they will always be requiring more. New facilities is the best long term solution IMO.

I'm sure you've seen "This Old House" on TV. People pump hundreds of thousands dollars into these old houses because they have so much "character" and history and whatever. When they could have probably built a new structure from scratch that looks almost exactly like the old one for about the same money. It just doesn't make any sense to me to throw money time after time at a problem that will never really get you to where you need to be. And, using upwards of $250,000 to purchase trailers, you know the "portable classrooms" or whatever PC term you like, to house the students is ludicrous. Just another "bandaid" for a bigger problem. One of the main ideas of the plan is to concentrate your student population in order to provide a more equal opportunity for them to take all the courses we can provide. That's great, but you'll need the "trailers" in order to do that. "If you're not going to adjust the curriculum, then you will not need the portable classrooms." Then, what's the point!!!! And, what are you going to do with the students at JJK, PV or Coeburn while the "renovations" are being done? You can't put up refugee tents to house them while that work is being done! There is no need to rush to combine the schools, at least not under this plan. It needs to be better thoughtout, planned and designed from top to bottom. I do support the idea of utilizing all the school systems resources in a more concentrated and equitable manner, but this plan is not the best way to do it. They may be able to make it work, but it not what any of us should settle for. But, this is just my opinion.

You laid into my next example. Glad you stated it. I've been talking to upset folks all morning and some on here. Most of them are they want to put our kids in trailers and still say they will get better educations?
Now many will see why i said. Build the schools first and do it right. I will vote for it.

Build 3 new schools and consolidation would be no problem. I would love to see that....To pack kids into an already crowded school is just not fair to the kids. I guess we now know why Scott Co. ran this guy out of town! So, let me get this straight, the county schools is going to charge students 3K from out of county to attend a county school? Sounds like they don't want these kids to go to a Wise Co. schools. Maybe if these kids did come it would make these schools tooo BIG. There is a reason for this decision tooo. This guy always has an angle.

also our lunch rooms r already crowded w/ 2 lunches in the day ( A and B) i mena i get in there and sometimes find it hard to find a seat. if we add 250 more student which is 125 more students to a lunch then it is going to be terrible.

Guess what, you were making accusations. The majority of what was said was wait till the information comes out, then jump all you want.

The secret vote to shut down Appy last June was a 'sure bet' and gonna happen and you posted right here on this board about it, and then they had the meeting and there was nothing. That was the point. When there are facts and truths and information that is there to grab, then by God lay into them for bad decisions, and nobody is not saying that now if you'll notice, all that was said was wait till its official.

And from what I have been told, there can't not be a vote Monday, they can only vote to set it to public hearing. For that matter, it could go 4-4, be tabled and die. They aren't going to be able to say "yes this is happening" Monday, its not an option, according to the law and that is well known by not just us, but the board itself.

So take a breath, read the information and prepare for more information. Don't be surprised if Lord Basham has another statement today on this due to pressure from board members.

I don't think you can fairly lump the entire school board in with this "Basham Plan". We'll have to see how they will officially weigh in on it. I don't know if anyone can really benefit personally from any decision they make. It's called a "conflict of interest" and elected officials have been fined, recalled and jailed for less. So, I don't see that as a possibility right now, but we'll just have to wait and see. I honestly believe, even those school board members who are leaning toward a consolidation solution probably will not support this proposal as it stands. At least that is what I am praying for.
